Wireless Access Point (WAP) :-
WAP is one of the most important devices that is used to access the internet via a wireless network. So it is a hardware device that allows wireless communication devices like tablets, laptops, smartphones, etc., to connect to the network. So we will tell you all the information about WAP, which includes its types, functions, and setup process. A wireless access point is used for networking. It is used to connect devices and laptops and mobiles to the internet. This device works as a local area network.
Introduction to WAP :-
WAP is a device that sees wireless signals and helps in putting internet connections in wireless devices. This device is also known as WAP or AP. The most important work of WAP is to create a wireless local area network (WLAN). Using WAP, we can also send signals so that the device can connect to the wireless network. It uses an access control system for the security of the network. Due to which the network remains very secure. WAP routes the data packets from the device to the wire network.
Functions of WAP :-
1. Internet Connection: WAP makes internet signals wireless in such a way that wireless devices can connect to the internet.
2. Data Transmission: WAP makes data wireless in such a way that data transmission is fast and good.
3. Network Expansion: WAP helps in expanding the coverage of an existing network.
Types of WAP :-
1. Standalone (WAP): It is an independent device that is connected to an existing network.
2. Inbuilt WAP in Router: It is found in routers that have the facility of a wireless access point.
3. Enterprise WAP: Enterprise is designed for large networks.
Setup of Wireless Access Point :-
1. Selection of Device: WAP should be selected as per your requirement.
2. Installation: The installation of WAP should be correct so that all the devices can get a proper signal.
3. Connection: WAP should be connected with the help of a model and router.
4. Configuration: WAP should be configured in such a way that the SSID is set and the password is also set.
Security measures of WAP :-
1. Encryption: WPA3 encryption should be used in WAP so that WAP can be more secure.
2. Strong password: A password of 8 or more digits should be set in WAP. So that you are secure.
3. Firewall: A firewall should be used for the security of WAP. And the firewall should always be kept updated.
Advantages of WAP :-
1. Better coverage: WAP is used more because it gives better network coverage.
2. Flexibility: WAP gives flexibility to many types of networks.
Conclusion :-
A wireless access point is an important device for wireless networking. Through this we can increase the coverage of the network. By using the right WAP according to our needs, we can experience a wireless network. The use of wireless access points is essential in the world of wireless networking. It allows users to connect to the Internet via mobile devices. Wireless connectivity is not possible without WAP.
